What formats does Convert A Book convert my book to?
Convert A Book will convert your files into ePUB and .Mobi (Amazon Kindle) eBook formats. These formats will allow your book to be read on almost any device. Convert A Book can also convert your files to XML, RTF and many other formats upon request.
What devices will my ebook be readable on?
The digital eBook files we provide can be viewed on all of the major devices including Apple iPad, Amazon Kindle, Amazon Fire, Barnes and Noble Nook, and Sony eReader as well as mobile phones, laptops and many other devices.
Do I own the converted files?
Yes. Convert A Book will give you all the files that your book is converted to. You will be able to distribute those files any way you want.
Is my digital book protected from piracy?
Convert A Book takes content security seriously. The files you upload to our system will only be seen by Convert A Book employees, and your finished eBook files will only be delivered to you.
When you sell your book through Amazon, Apple, Barns and Noble and the other major online stores your files are encrypted with DRM protection. This protects your files from being copied and sold illegally without your consent.
Do I need an ISBN?
In order to sell your book on Amazon, the Apple iBookstore or any other online bookstore you will need an ISBN number. ISBN numbers act as a product code and can only be used on one book. You will also need an ISBN number for each edition of your book – so if you already have your book in print you will need a new ISBN number for your digital editions as well. If you need an ISBN number you can register your own ISBN through Bowker.com, or we can help you register an ISBN prior to distribution at a discounted rate.
Does Convert A Book promote my digital book?
Convert A Book will promote your book online using social media and Search Engine Optimization. We will consult with you to determine keywords that will bring traffic to your website or blog, and we will create a custom marketing plan to accomplish this goal. We can help you drive more visitors to your website and consequently make more eBook sales.
What is Re-Flowing Text?
The eBooks we create use what is called Re-Flowing text. Most devices allow the user to select what font and text size they want to view their book in. When the font size is changed the text of your book will “flow” between pages to fit accurately in your viewing window. Because of re-flowing text ebooks do not maintain the original page numbers that are in your manuscript file.
What capabilities will my eBook file have?
We format our ebook files to work with all major ebook capabilities including re-flowing text, changeable fonts, working table of contents links etc…
Will I be able to review my new files? And can my eBook file be edited if I need changes made?
We have a stringent quality control process to ensure that your ebook files are error free and that they look as close as possible to your original manuscript. After we deliver your files you will have the opportunity to review the files and we will make any needed edits free of charge.
If at any time you need additional changes made to your file we will happily make those edits for you (however many of these additional edits that were not included in the original manuscript will incur small fees)
Do I need a cover image and are there special requirements for my cover image?
A cover image is required. Your cover image will be displayed in the "bookshelf" or "menu" for many devices, and is used by bookstores like Amazon.com when you sell your book online.
There are some requirements for your cover image:
- The hight of your image must be at least 800px. The image width must be at least 550px.
- Only JPG, PNG, and TIFF images are supported. However if you deliver your cover image in PDF, inDesign, Microsoft Word, or another format we can convert your image to JPG for you.
- Your image should use RGB color (not CMYK).
- Your image should be at least 72dpi resolution but we recommend 300dpi.
- The front cover is the only required image. Your cover should be "flat" – no shadow effects. You can also include the spine, front or back flaps, or back cover. We will include these within your book but they are not required.
